Los Angeles, CA – August 5, 2012 – Robin Zander, lead singer of Cheap Trick, along with other celebrities will join hundreds of people and their pets for the 12 Million Dog March event at Pan Pacific Park (7600 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036 – free parking in the lot on Beverly Blvd.) on Sunday, August 5 to help raise awareness and fund pet cancer treatment.
The free event will take place from 11am – 3pm and will include contests, giveaways, a march, sampling, dog activities, expert advice from veterinary oncologists and a live performance by Zander, among other festivities.
One of the songs that Zander will perform is “Every Dog,” which is the theme song of this campaign. People can purchase the track at iTunes and all proceeds go to the Riedel & Cody Fund (RCF), which is the charitable organization behind the 12 Million Dog March initiative. RCF provides funding and support for people whose pets have been diagnosed with cancer and can’t afford treatment.
“I am so thrilled about our first 12 Million Dog March event happening in Los Angeles,” said Mark Tillinger, founder of The Riedel & Cody Fund and the 12 Million Dog March. “RCF’s goal is to help fund as many pets as possible and thanks to our generous sponsors -- Blue Buffalo and Petco -- we will be able to help so many animals in need. It will be an incredibly memorable event and the first of many to come.”
The 12 Million Dog March is a national campaign to raise awareness that 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer each year and to raise money so that animals with cancer can get treatment. People can participate by joining the virtual march online and attend local events in select cities across the country – by going to www.12milliondogmarch.com. For every person who joins the march, Blue Buffalo will donate $1 to RCF. The 12 Million Dog March campaign has been made possible by the generosity of its premier sponsors, Blue Buffalo and Petco.
